Microsoft Copilot Studio & Copilot: Price Decreases and Deep Reasoning

In March of 2025, Microsoft announced meter price reductions in Copilot Studio, that make using custom agents for non-Microsoft 365 Copilot users more affordable. Also, deep reasoning capabilities join both Copilot Studio and Microsoft 365 Copilot that allow the AI to think longer about prompts and give better answers.

Copilot Studio price decreases for specific actions

Copilot Studio allows you to create your own AI agents. Based on pay-as-you-go pricing, you pay for prompts that your users send to your AI agent. Pricing is measured in “messages”, and different answer types and actions have different “message”-prices, e.g., a generative answer costs two (2) messages. A message costs 0.01 USD. While non-Microsoft 365 Copilot users create message-costs for each action, Microsoft 365 Copilot users incur no charge for some of the available actions.

Since April 1, 2025, the message-cost of tenant Microsoft Graph grounding for messages (30 -> now 10) and of Agent actions (25 -> now 5) have been reduced.

Tenant Graph Grounding for Messages

Tenant Graph grounding for messages provides high-quality grounding for your AI agents using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) over your tenant-wide Microsoft Graph. This includes relevant information from files stored in SharePoint and external data synced via Graph connectors. It ensures that the grounding information is up-to-date and context-aware.

Agent Actions

Agent actions let your agents perform specific tasks automatically. These actions can include triggers, topics, Power Platform connectors, and Power Automate flows to automate complex business processes. For example, an agent can use these actions to respond to user queries, execute workflows, or integrate with other systems and services.

Deep Reasoning in Copilot Studio: Build Advanced AI Agents

Now available, Copilot Studio gives the option to use an advanced reasoning model in your custom-built AI agents. This model can handle more complex tasks, because it processes longer and step-by-step. This advanced reasoning model is priced at the premium rate for text and generative AI tools, costing 100 messages per 10 responses – also for Microsoft 365 Copilot users. It uses the OpenAI o1 model at the moment.

Deep Reasoning in Microsoft 365 Copilot: Researcher & Analyst

In preview as of April 2025, Microsoft 365 Copilot includes two (2) new Microsoft-built agents that can handle complex tasks and multi-step tasks with ease, powered by deep-reasoning large language models (LLMs).

Researcher

Researcher helps you handle complex research tasks efficiently. It combines advanced AI with Microsoft 365 Copilot to provide high-quality insights. You can use it to develop go-to-market strategies, find new product opportunities, or create detailed client reports. It also integrates data from external sources like Salesforce and ServiceNow for a more comprehensive view.

Analyst

Analyst works like a skilled data scientist, turning raw data into insights quickly. It uses advanced reasoning to refine its analysis and can run Python for complex queries. Analyst helps you create demand forecasts, visualize customer patterns, and project revenue from scattered data.
