Effective February 21, 2025, Nuance Dragon Medical One is available and comes with important licensing changes. It introduces support for Java and .NET Software Development Kits (SDKs), uses WebView2, has a new support framework and more.
Change in Support Definitions
Microsoft has added a support category to better serve the needs of customers (Nuance is a part of Microsoft since 2022). The support period for each release will continue to be 12 months after a release date. In the past, this was closely followed by an End-of-Life date. The new support category, “Limited Support,” provides a 6-month support period after End of Support and an additional 6-month period before End of Life. End of Life is now 24 months after the release date. The new definitions and an updated release version chart are below.
Definitions:
- Supported: Typically, a release is supported for 12 months. During this period, Microsoft will investigate any reported issues and make best efforts to address any confirmed defects, point or service release.
- Limited Support: If a release is more than 12 months old it will still operate, but support will be on a limited basis for an additional 6 months. Limited Support means Microsoft will investigate any reported issues but will not work to resolve an issue that cannot be reproduced on a supported release.
- End of Life (EOL): A major release or point release that is more than 24 months old will no longer function due to advances in the Nuance cloud infrastructure.
The licensing for Dragon Medical One 2025.1 includes a support period of 12 months after the release date, followed by a 6-month limited support period and an additional 6-month period before End of Life (EOL). This ensures that users have access to support for up to 24 months after the release date.
